“When I go to Iraq to visit my family, I can’t stand being there for more than a week. It’s not the same people.”
(One Magazine May 2011 Edition)

My name is Anna Jonasson and since 2007 I’ve been working as a freelance journalist for radio, press and web. My areas of interest are political and social issues in the Arab world, poverty and social injustices, international trade, environmental issues and human rights.

My focus throughout the years has been centered on writing and doing radio reports when traveling. In Egypt, I have dealt with issues such as female genital mutilation (FGM), freedom of expression and micro credit loans. In Palestine/Israel: The peace movement, settlement policy and agriculture. In Brazil: Abortion, Liberation Theology, ethanol and organic farming.
